What if my holiday plans have to change?

In these unpredictable times, we understand that booking a holiday can raise a few more questions than it used to, particularly regarding covid related travel restrictions. Recognising that flexibility is key here, we have reviewed our policies for 2022 and are pleased to offer the following Peace of Mind Guarantee for all new bookings made up to 31 March 2022.

Changes due to travel restrictions.

If you are prevented from travelling, due to official restrictions imposed by your government or the government of the countries you are due to visit, Flexitreks will offer the following options:

1.  Defer your trip to a later date in 2022*

* Amendment fees will be waived and the new tour price would apply.

2.  Change to an alternative trip in 2022**

** New tour price would apply plus any non-refundable costs incurred for the original tour.

3.  Cancel and receive a full refund***

*** This option can only be offered within 21 days of your tour’s start date and not before.

Do I need to provide proof of Covid 19 vaccination?

Bike and boat Holidays: If you have a reservation for a Flexitreks bike and boat cycling holiday in 2022, please be advised that for everyone's protection, each person on board will be required to present proof of full up-to-date Covid 19 vaccination protection.

Hotel and cycle holidays: This is ever-changing but we expect most European countries to require visitors to provide proof of full up-to-date Covid 19 vaccination protection in 2022.

What if new government restrictions require you to quarantine on arrival at your destination or on your return home?

We will offer the option to change your trip to a later date in 2022, with no amendment fees. The price of the new date will apply. Alternatively, we will offer a full refund should we have to cancel the trip - this decision will only be taken 21 days prior to your trip start date.

What if we have been asked to self-isolate or have been diagnosed with COVID?

Unfortunately we would have to cancel your holiday and our normal cancellation terms would apply. See booking conditions. A cancellation invoice would be issued for you to pursue a claim with your travel insurance provider.

What if our local area is in lockdown at the time of travel.

If the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) is not restricting travel, we will endeavour to change your trip to an alternative date in 2022. The new tour price would apply plus any non-refundable costs incurred for the original tour. If this is not possible, we would have to cancel your holiday and our normal cancellation terms would apply. See booking conditions. A cancellation invoice would be issued for you to pursue a claim with your travel insurance provider.

What if I am due to travel much later in the year and do not want to go?

If there are no government restrictions in place but you personally do not wish to travel, we will endeavour to change your trip to an alternative date in 2022. An admin fee of £35 per person plus any non-refundable costs incurred for the original tour will apply. Additionally, the new tour cost will apply. If however you decide not to travel at all in 2022, our normal cancellation terms would apply. 

What happens if my travel plans have been cancelled by my airline?

As travel to and from the start of the cycle trip is not part of the Flexitreks package, we cannot be responsible for these elements.

Where do we get our advice?


British nationals: We follow the Foreign Commonwealth & Development Advice (FCDO). Our decisions will reflect any changes made by them and the UK Government. Additionally, as an ABTA member, we also abide by their strict code of conduct.

Non-British nationals: We will heed your government’s official advice.

Below are some general protective measures, which may still apply when you arrive:

Wear a mask when entering the hotels, restaurants, bars, museums and places of interest!

We advise carrying hand sanitizer with you and washing your hands regularly.

Keep at least 2m away from others! 

Hotels may have different procedures, so please inquire at check-in. The breakfast in each hotel may be individually adapted to the spatial conditions. The hotels are very creative!

 If you have any symptoms, don't hesitate to get tested!

We recommend that when you arrive at your destination each evening, that you pre book a restaurant, as in some places there is reduced capacity due to Covid restrictions and as some restaurants now require pre-booking. Reception will be happy to assist.
