Overview

Head to southwest Finland for an island hopping cycling holiday through the Turku archipelago. Travel by ferry between pristine small islands, riding to idyllic villages and staying in some amazing locations in a corner of Finland well known by locals but still very much off the beaten track for mainstream tourism.

Starting from bustling Turku on the mainland, you’ll ride out northwest and then take the ferry to the popular summer retreat of Kustavi. This is just the first of your island-hopping stops. You’ll also make your way by bike and boat to Inio, Houtskar, Korppoo and Nauvo, islands each with their own unique charm.

Your accommodation will be remarkable, too, from traditional thatched harbour-side cabins in Kustavi to converted barns and  a spa hotel in Naantali. Why not relax with a sauna after a day riding through beautiful scenery before settling down to a wonderful home-cooked meal to experience Finland at its best?

This is a cycle tour where the emphasis is on getting to know the local area rather than challenging yourself. Most of the islands feature largely flat topography, and you’ll be following quiet roads with little traffic, so anyone with a basic level of fitness will enjoy this trip.
