This fabulous itinerary leads you on a gentle loop through the sublime Tuscan countryside. Follow quiet roads and iconic white gravel lanes ( strade bianche) across a rolling countryside festooned with vineyards, olive groves, cypress trees and gorgeous hill-top towns.
Visit the world renowned cities of Pisa, Siena and Florence as well as idyllic Tuscan towns and wine villages such as Castellina in Chianti and San Gimignano.
The region is of course well known for its gastronomic delights and on each day's ride you'll come across idyllic villages and towns where you might be tempted to stop for a leisurely lunch.

The stages lead you along charming country roads and the iconic white gravel lanes (strade bianche). When entering or leaving towns and cities you may encounter heavier traffic but for the most part this route adheres to quiet lanes and country roads.

After checking in to your centrally located hotel, take s troll around the famous old spa town. We also highly recommend taking the funicular railway up to the lofty village of Montecatini Alto for some fabulous views of the surrounding Tuscan countryside.
Leave Montecatini Terme and follow a network of quiet lanes westwards. After about 12 km, a short climb delivers you to the gorgeous hilltop village of Montecarlo. The views from the fortifications are simply stunning and this is a good place to stop for a coffee. You then descend to the Lucca plain and cycle to the historic city of Lucca itself, where a walk along the city walls is a must. From here you follow the Serchio River towards Lake Massacciuccoli, also known as Puccini's Lake as the famous composer lived on the lake shore. From here, it's not far to the Piazza dei Miracoli in Pisa, home to the famous leaning tower. You will spend the night in th bustling town of Pisa.
Note: It's possible to reduce the overall distance of today's route to around 40km by taking a train from Montecatini Terme to Montecarlo and also omitting the optional loop ride out to Lake Massacciuccoli.
From Pisa, the route follows the meanders of the Arno river eastwards, across fertile pastures. After a few kilometres you turn south and enter more undulating terrain. Vineyards, orchards and olive groves cover the gentle slopes and small medieval villages perch on the surrounding hilltops - classic Tuscan scenery. Each corner reveals yet more panoramic views as you wend your way eastwards. Following a final climb, you freewheel down into the charming old spa town of Casciana Terme where you will spend the night.
Today's route is an absolute delight as you continue through the gently undulating Tuscan countryside. Vineyards, olive groves and sentry-like cypress trees punctuate the landscape as you follow a network of quiet lanes and roads eastwards. Every few kilometres or so you'll pass through a small village where you may be tempted to stop for refreshment. Your destination today is the medieval town of San Gimignano and from a few kilometres away you will already spot the iconic skyline of bell-towers in the distance. After checking in to your hotel, take a stroll through the winding cobbled streets to the main square, Piazza della Cisterna. Maybe sample a glass of the Vernaccia di San Gimignano, a popular local wine.
Another stunning ride through the breathtaking Tuscan countryside today. For much of today's ride will follow the iconic Strade Bianche (white roads) a network of well-maintained, white gravel roads that weave their way through the Tuscan hills. Stop to explore the medieval fortified village of Monteriggioni before pressing on to the beautiful Tuscan town of Sienna, where you will spend the night. Wander the ancient flagstoned streets and at some point you will end up at the famous Piazza del Campo, with it's iconic bell-tower. In the surrounding streets you will find no shortage of restaurants offering delicious Tuscan cuisine.
Today's ride leads you northwards along a network of winding lanes and Strade Bianche. The scenery becomes more and more impressive as you gently ascend. The charming stone village of Vagliari is the ideal place to stop for a coffee before continuing on along the white gravel lane, past beautiful wine estates and avenues of cypress trees. The gorgeous, elevated village of Radda in Chanti makes a perfect lunch stop before tackling the final 10 km to the tiny peaceful village of Castellina in Chanti for your overnight stay.
The final ride gently descends through more stunning Tuscan countryside to the enchanting little town of Greve in Chanti. From here the route leads you through rolling hills and seas of vineyards northwards. Before long you arrive in Florence, birthplace of the Renaissance. The route delivers you to the iconic Ponte Vecchio, the oldest stone bridge across the Arno River. After checking into your hotel, the rest of the day and evening are yours to explore and experience the many cultural delights of this fabulous city.
After breakfast it's time to check-out and head for home or your next adventure.
On this tour you can choose between a regular bike, a regular Plus bike or an electric bike.
Regular bikes provided are modern alloy framed models with 21 speeds. The bikes come equipped with pannier, lock and a repair kit with pump. Water bottle holders are not provided. Minimum height: 148cm. If you wish to have a male specific bike with crossbar, the minimum height is 165cm.
The regular Plus bike offers a step up in terms of components (hydraulic Magura brakes HS 11, Shimano Deore XT) and the crossbar frame provides a more sporty riding position. High quality, suntour suspension forks ensure a comfortable ride on these bikes. The bikes come equipped with pannier, lock and a repair kit with pump. Water bottle holders are not provided. Minimum height: 155cm.
Electric bikes with unisex frame are also available. Minimum height: 148cm
Adult helmets are available to buy at the time of booking the trip. Sizes: XXS-M (52-57 cm) or S-L (56-60cm) only. However, we do always suggest you bring your own.

Local taxes
Some hotels have started to charge a local/tourist tax. These taxes are not included in the sale price of the tour and must be paid directly by you at check-in or checkout at the hotels. This fee varies and is ever changing but as a guide, you may be asked to pay between €4-€6 per person per night
Fly to Pisa or Florence airports.
From Pisa airport, take the 8 minute bus ride to Pisa central station and then take a train to Montecatini Terme, the journey time is one hour.
From Florence airport, take a bus straight to Montecatini Terme, the journey time is 43 minutes.
At the end of the trip, fly home from Florence or return to Pisa airport by bus, the journey time is one hour.
