The Alpe Adria Cycle Path, Europe's incredibly scenic and surprisingly easy, leisurely cycling route, leads cyclists across the majestic alps from Salzburg in Austria to Grado on Italy's Adriatic Coast. Thanks to a short train ride under the spine of the Alps the route can be enjoyed by riders of all abilities.
This recently completed, alpine cycle route is proving very popular with European cyclists who love the sublime scenery and traffic free cycling through the heart of the alps.
Choose the classic, 7 night, Salzburg to the Adriatic Cycling Holiday to enjoy the whole route at a leisurely pace or, if you're pretty fit, you could consider the condensed 5 night, Salzburg to the Adriatic Cycling Break.
We also offer a range of cycling holidays that include sections of the Alpe Adria route such as the Salzburg to Lake Bled Cycling Holiday and the Salzburg to Villach Cycling Holiday.
Our easy cycling holidays offer short daily rides on mostly level terrain. A typical day’s ride will take 2 – 3 hours at a leisurely pace and the remainder of the day will be free for you to explore further or simply relax. These rides are particularly recommended for newcomers to cycling holidays and for families.
Our leisurely cycle holidays will suit those who are reasonably fit through regular exercise of one kind or another – not necessarily cycling. On the whole, the terrain will be level but there may also be a few small hills to contend with along the way too. Daily rides will typically take around 3 – 4 hours to complete.
Our moderate cycle holidays are for regular cyclists, who are used to longer rides with regular climbs. A good level of fitness is needed and you can expect to be in the saddle for between 4 and 5 hours each day.
These holidays are for seasoned cyclists who cycle long distances regularly and who enjoy the thrill of long days in the saddle. There will undoubtedly be some challenging climbs along the way and you can expect to cover between 55 and 75 miles each day.
This cycling holiday follows the early stages of the Alpe-Adria Cycle Path through some of Austria’s most impressive alpine scenery. Along the way you’ll see picture-perfect alpine villages, serene mountain lakes, glistening glaciers, tumbling waterfalls and cavernous gorges. While you are always surrounded by alpine vistas, the route sticks to the valley floor offering relaxed cycling along bike paths and low-traffic roads.
