Self-guided cycling holidays are the most popular type of cycling holiday. As the name suggests, on these cycling holidays you are the master of your own destiny, riding at a pace that suits you. Rental bikes, accommodation and route notes are provided. Your luggage is also transferred for you each day.
A few weeks before your holiday you will receive your personalised holiday information and route navigation guide in the form of a handy app on your phone. This will include all relevant information, vouchers and contact numbers as well as instructions for taking delivery of your rental bikes.
Throughout your holiday, our local representative is just a phone call away should you need assistance of any kind.
You'll use the app to navigate the daily routes. When you turn it on and select the day's route you will be able to see your actual position in relation to the route map itself. This has revolutionised cycling holiday navigation and also makes it much easier to make small detours to/from nearby points of interest along the way.
As well as showing your actual location on the route, the app also shows the distance you have travelled so far that day and the distance still to go to the end point. This can be a very useful tool in determining the pace of your day.
At the end of the holiday just leave the bikes at your last night’s hotel and our local team will pick them up from there.
Our easy cycling holidays offer short daily rides on mostly level terrain. A typical day’s ride will take 2 – 3 hours at a leisurely pace and the remainder of the day will be free for you to explore further or simply relax. These rides are particularly recommended for newcomers to cycling holidays and for families.
Our leisurely cycle holidays will suit those who are reasonably fit through regular exercise of one kind or another – not necessarily cycling. On the whole, the terrain will be level but there may also be a few small hills to contend with along the way too. Daily rides will typically take around 3 – 4 hours to complete.
Our moderate cycle holidays are for regular cyclists, who are used to longer rides with regular climbs. A good level of fitness is needed and you can expect to be in the saddle for between 4 and 5 hours each day.
These holidays are for seasoned cyclists who cycle long distances regularly and who enjoy the thrill of long days in the saddle. There will undoubtedly be some challenging climbs along the way and you can expect to cover between 55 and 75 miles each day.
